Republicans Threaten Natural, Popular Health Remedy

ITS LIKE LIVING IN CHINA

They care less about your health.

I love CBD so much. It took away my aches and pains, allowed me to sleep again, and I have not have a head cold in 5 years. It took away my wife’s skin issues, my daughter’s acne, my friend’s anxiety, and that’s just the short list. I will likely have to shutter the doors at DMLcbd based on a new bill and the lobbying money that dominates lawmaking decisions. Thus, below I announce what could be DMLcbd’s last BOGO sale ever. — DML

A Federal Bill Threatens to Crush a Natural Health Revolution

A federal spending bill, written by Republicans, is slithering through Congress and could wipe out the hemp industry, banning consumable hemp products like CBD with the flick of a legislative pen. The Congressional Research Service (CRS) warns this measure would “effectively” prohibit hemp-derived cannabinoid products, including CBD, by rewriting the definition of hemp to exclude anything with “quantifiable” THC or cannabinoids mimicking THC’s effects. This isn’t about safety—it’s a calculated move to crush a $28 billion industry that’s been a godsend for millions seeking natural relief.

The bill carves out an exception for FDA-approved drugs like Epidiolex, a CBD-based epilepsy medication, but leaves the broader hemp market—edibles, tinctures, topicals—vulnerable. It restricts legal hemp to “industrial” uses like fiber, grain, or microgreens, effectively gutting the consumable cannabinoid sector. The CRS warns this would “prohibit production and sale of hemp-derived cannabinoids, derivatives, and extracts,” devastating farmers, retailers, and consumers. In short, DML CBD will be out of business, leaving tens of thousands of customers no alternative to help conquer pain, anxiety, skin issues, sleeplessness, and a weak immune system.

Jonathan Miller, general counsel for the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, calls it a “dire emergency” for an industry employing thousands and supporting health-conscious Americans.

The Benefits of CBD: A Natural Powerhouse

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound in hemp that’s transformed lives. It doesn’t get you high, but its therapeutic potential is staggering. Here’s what various reports and customers claim:

  • Sleep: CBD reportedly regulates sleep cycles. A 2019 study found 66.7% of patients with sleep issues reported improved sleep after one month of CBD use.

  • Calm: By modulating serotonin receptors, A 2015 review claims CBD’s efficacy in treating generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety.

  • Immune Boost: A 2020 study noted CBD’s potential to modulate immune responses, suggesting it potentially plays a role in reducing inflammation.

  • Skin Issues: CBD reportedly helps with acne, psoriasis, and eczema. A 2014 study suggests CBD inhibits sebum production, calming acne-prone skin.

  • Pain Relief: CBD reportedly alleviates chronic pain by interacting with pain receptors. A 2020 review suggested it’s effective for arthritis, neuropathic pain, and fibromyalgia.

Most astonishingly, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has highlighted CBD’s potential against COVID-19. A 2022 study referenced on the NIH’s PubMed database, found CBD and its metabolite, 7-OH-CBD, inhibit SARS-CoV-2 replication in lung cells. The study suggests CBD could act as a preventive and therapeutic agent by blocking viral entry and reducing inflammation, offering a natural alternative to pharmaceutical interventions. The NIH’s acknowledgment of this underscores CBD’s promise, yet the Republican-led bill threatens to bury it.

Big Pharma

Reports suggest Big Pharma spent $373 million on lobbying in 2024 alone, employing over 1,800 lobbyists to influence Congress. That’s more than any other industry, dwarfing tech ($159 million) and insurance ($150 million).

Hemp and CBD industry leaders say Big Pharma giants have a vested interest in keeping CBD off shelves. They point to Epidiolex, the only FDA-approved CBD drug, which costs $32,500 per year, while over-the-counter CBD tinctures cost as little as $50 a month. By banning consumable hemp, critics say this bill funnels patients toward pricey prescriptions, padding Pharma’s bottom line.

The Fallout: Consumers and Farmers Lose

This bill doesn’t just hurt hemp businesses; it robs consumers of choice and farmers of livelihoods. Do we live in China?

The hemp industry supports 53,000 jobs in Texas alone and generates $8 billion in tax revenue nationwide. Veterans, who use CBD for PTSD and chronic pain, and seniors, who rely on it for arthritis, face losing access to affordable relief.

MAHA?

Make America Healthy Again? Where is Robert Kennedy Jr. defending natural remedies?I thought we voted for change. CBD’s benefits—backed by credible studies, customer testimonials, and the NIH—are too vital to sacrifice on Big Pharma’s altar. Call your representative today. Demand they save the hemp industry before it’s too late. And pay close attention… The timing of this is terrible. At DML CBD we were planning to move our location, and so we sold off the majority of our inventory two months ago to make our move easier. Once into a new spot, we’d restock. Well, I cannot restock and risk having a bill leave me stranded with unsellable inventory in October. Therefore, sadly, this may be the last BOGO sale ever. We ask you to prepare for the worst, and pray for the best. Our inventory is light, so if you are an existing customer, I suggest you take advantage of the BOGO — act as if you are stacking up for a minimum of six months (and that’s if the bill doesn’t pass). If the bill passes, DML CBD is out of business. If it fails, only then will I restock inventory, which takes months. Thus, you should cover yourself. This inventory will not last long.
