Stomach issues, how I solved mine, and the poisons they prescribe you

IT’S NOT SOLVED WITH TOXINS

They prescribe you poisons and tell you it’s going to help your GI issues. They are liars.

For years I felt like I was on my death bed, stomach and intestinal issues that kept me from enjoying life. The pains were incredible, and they were only made worse with medications. — DML

I am asked, constantly, how I solved my GI issues. Today, I give you 5 answers.

Reflect on your digestive health. How often have you endured stomach pain, irregular stools, or unresolved GI issues? Could the processed foods you’ve eaten, late-night meals, or oversized portions be to blame? The answer is YES. But, too often, doctors prescribe medications without addressing these root causes—a lesson I learned firsthand. For years, I battled debilitating GI problems, enduring countless colonoscopies, endoscopies, and medications that often worsened my condition.

I’m not a doctor, and this newsletter isn’t offering medical advice. I’m simply sharing my personal journey and research. My struggles were extensive: ulcers, inflammation, early Barrett’s Esophagus, colon polyps, hemorrhoids, blood in my stool, constipation, diarrhea, cramps, crazy sounds, and more. I’ve undergone every test—barium studies, CT scans, MRIs, gastric emptying studies, pelvic exams—poked, prodded, and pushed to my limits. Today, those things are no longer needed, my GI system is strong.

My insights come from real-time, hard-won experience, and I’m here to share what I’ve learned.

1. The Dark Side of Antacids, PPIs, and H2 Blockers

Antacids, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like omeprazole, and H2 blockers like Pepcid mask acid reflux and stomach pain but don’t solve root causes. Antacids neutralize stomach acid, disrupting digestion and potentially increasing colon cancer risk per 2017 studies. PPIs reduce acid production, linked to kidney disease, bone fractures, and nutrient deficiencies after long-term use. H2 blockers curb acid release but can cause headaches and liver issues. I think these drugs hide symptoms, allowing underlying issues like poor diet or stress to worsen. I think relying on them risks dependency and serious health complications without addressing the actual digestive dysfunction. I was prescribed all of them, none of them helped — they made me more sick. And I experienced most of the side effects — they are terrible. So, I dumped the meds forever.

2. Barrett’s Esophagus: A Preventable Path to Cancer

I was told I was on the cusp of Barrett’s Esophagus. This occurs when chronic acid reflux damages the esophageal lining, replacing normal cells with abnormal ones. This precancerous condition, linked to 0.5% annual cancer risk, can progress to deadly esophageal adenocarcinoma if untreated. Symptoms include persistent heartburn and swallowing difficulty. One doctor wanted to load me up on meds. At the outset, I agreed to take the pills — but they only made me feel worse. I went natural instead — allowing my body to repair itself, like God intended. I went with diet changes, weight loss, walking after every meal, and avoiding trigger foods like spicy or acidic items. In the end, this strategy reversed my damage. Also: Elevating the head during sleep and quitting heavy drinking helped. If you smoke… STOP!

NOTE: Regular endoscopic monitoring catches progression early, preventing cancer. In my experience, natural lifestyle adjustments, not medications, are key to halting this potentially terminal condition before it escalates.

3. Poor Diet and Timing Fuel GI Woes

My research shows that most stomach and GI issues stem from what, when, and how much we eat. Processed foods, high in sugar and trans fats, inflame the gut, causing bloating, reflux, and irregular stools. Late-night eating disrupts digestion, while overeating strains the stomach. Constipation, often from low fiber or ignored bathroom urges, compounds pain—Elvis reportedly died with 40 pounds of impacted stool, highlighting extreme consequences. Simple fixes like eating high-fiber whole foods, smaller portions, and earlier meals promote steady stools and ease discomfort. Regular bathroom habits prevent buildup, addressing many GI problems at their source. I drink far less coffee than I once did, I gave up orange juice, and I limit my beer and vodka to once every two weeks on average.

PRO TIP: When I would be constipated, I would listen to soft music while I sat on the bowl. I’d take deep inhales, hold, then slow exhale. Get as relaxed as can be. Then I would bend forward, as if doing a crunch. Eventually, the pooping became regular and easy.

4. Dietary Shifts and Black Tea for Gut Health

I found relief by swapping processed junk for gut-friendly foods. High-fiber options like oats, lentils, and leafy greens restore digestion, while fermented foods like yogurt and kimchi boost healthy gut bacteria. I drink a morning fruit shake: Water, ice, organic peanut butter, black berries and a full banana. I compliment it now with black tea, rich in antioxidants, supports gut microbiota, and helps with less bloating after consumption.

Avoiding trigger foods—caffeine, alcohol, spicy dishes—calms inflammation. Smaller, balanced meals at regular times prevent acid spikes. For me, these changes, rooted in whole foods and mindful eating, outperform temporary fixes and toxic meds, fostering lasting gut health and reducing reliance on medications.

5.Nature Over Meds for Lasting Relief

Medications like antacids and PPIs offer quick fixes but mask symptoms, risking side effects, harsh diseases, and dependency. The natural path—adjusting diet, meal timing, meditation, and portion size—tackles the root of stomach and GI issues. Whole foods, fiber, and hydration heal the gut, while regular bathroom habits prevent complications. Black tea and fermented foods nurture healthy digestion. Unlike drugs, which carry risks like cancer or organ damage, lifestyle changes are safe, sustainable, and empower long-term health. My take is from experience: Embrace natural solutions over pharmaceutical crutches to reclaim a pain-free, vibrant digestive system without dangerous consequences.
